Gingerbread Farms Perennials
Greg Black,
Proprietor 383
Old Winthrop Rd Wayne ME 04284
685-4050
GBlack1503@AOL.com
Gingerbread Farm was started 30 years ago
as a farm stand operation. At one time we
delivered plants to more than 40 separate
operations in Maine. Twenty years ago the
farm began a retail operation. We put in
display gardens , a sales area and added
more greenhouses to grow more first year
perennials, annuals and hanging baskets.
We still sell wholesale but the plants must
be picked up.
We began selling some unusual annuals in the mid 80's and have
increased the selections to include common annuals as well
as the more interesting and unusual varieties.
We dedicate
about 20% of time and space to mixed baskets and container
gardens, and have a loyal following of customers who bring
their containers back every year to have them refilled. We
offer a potting bench to customers to use for building their
own creations. They enjoy walking through the greenhouse
and choosing combinations that suit their
unique situations.
We
have over 400 separate species of plants within the greenhouse
at the peak of growing season. We control insects with a
spot spray of horticultural oil if needed;
and will use a stronger insecticide only
if required..
